Introduction
The human rights-based approach (HRBA), human rights-based development (HRBD), development that works from a human rights framework...whatever acronym or description is most familar, what does it mean to you?
There are plenty of descriptions and definitions of a human rights-based approach to development floating around out there. Equalinrights' ideas about HRBD are on its website, which also includes a selection of HRBD Resources. A quick Google search turns up dozens more, from the likes of UNAIDS, Amnesty International, CRIN, etc. Interaction's 2003 paper "An Introduction to the Concept of Rights-Based Approach to Development" includes definitions from a few of the many development agencies that promote the integration of development and human rights work.
